Anthony Aiello was one of the top football players produced at Farrell High, who returned to his alma mater as teacher and coach. At Farrell he had the distinction of having played on and coached for a WPIAL championship team.

He was a four-year varsity member of the Night Riders team, from 1950-54, and played on the 1951 Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League championship team under coach Tony Paulekas.

His senior year he was selected to the 1954 Mercer County All-Star team at center and helped the squad to a 13-7 victory over Trumbull County.

Anthony was a four-year starter at center and linebacker for Clarion State College and at that time was the first four-year letterman in 25 years at the school.

In 1963-64, he played center for the Long Island Giants in the New York Metropolitan Professional League under coach Ed Danowski.

He began his coaching career in 1960 at Hauppauge High School in Long Island —mentoring centers, guards and linebackers. He coached at East Islip High in Long Island in 1961.

From 1963-64, he was a member of the staff that returned football to New York University, however they dropped football and basketball after that season. He was invited to the Susquehanna University staff during pre-season with head coach Jim Garrett and NYU staff with Bob Windish.

From 1968-70 he was an assistant coach at Hubbard High. He returned to Farrell as an assistant to Bill Gargano from 1971-76. As center, guard and linebacker coach, he was part of the 1976 WPIAL championship team.

He retired from coaching in 1977. He taught and served as dean of students at Farrell.

His is currently the Mercer County director of talent for K.O. Drugs High School Boxing, headquartered in Youngstown under the direction of Chuck Nelson.
