Anthony Perriello excelled in the sport of diving like no other athlete in the history of Mercer County.

At Sharpsville High in 1975, he was the District 10 champion and set a record that lasted 28 years. He placed 10th in the PIAA state championships. He was a high school All-American honorable mention.

He achieved greatness at Clarion State College from 1975-79. He was a 16-time All-American and 6-time national champion (NAIA and NCAA Division II). He was inducted into the Clarion University Hall of Fame in 2000.

The Florida resident still competes in Masters Diving events. He is a five-time national champion and the one-meter Pan Pacific champ.

He served as assistant swim/diving coach at Southeast Missouri State University from 1980 and 1981, producing three All-Americans.

From 1994 to 2001, Anthony was owner and diving coach of River City Diving and coached springboard divers of all ages. He coached 18 conference champions, 36 district champs, 120 Florida high school state qualifiers, 65 Florida state finalists, 10 Junior Olympic national qualifiers and 3 Master national and world champions.

Since 2001, he has been head diving coach of the West Florida Lightning Aquatics. He coached 10 Pinellas County conference champs, 6 Hillsborough County winners, 12 district champs, 90 Florida High School state qualifiers, 50 Florida state finalists, 2 state champs, 18 Junior Olympic national qualifiers, 17 AAU national qualifiers, 2 AAU national champions, 4 Senior national qualifiers and 1 champion, and 4 Masters divers. Many of the students whom he coached received college scholarships.
