Bill Horsman was an outstanding football and track star at Grove City High School who went on to a terrific gridiron career at Thiel College.
He shined in the two sports in high school from 1972-76 and played a big role as a member of the four-year undefeated Eagles track team.Bill was part of the state-qualifying 880 relay team for four years and a member of the state-qualifying 440-relay squad for three years.A running back for the Eagles, he was an all-conference selection his senior year.
He went on to Thiel College where he was a defensive standout in football. He was a member of the 1979 Tomcats' defensive unit that was ranked No. 1 in the nation in NCAA Division III.
Bill was a member of three Butler County fastpitch softball championship teams when he played from 1976-1982.He went on to a strong coaching career at Slippery Rock University, where he mentored running backs for 14 years. He coached 2 All-Americans, 11 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference running backs and 8 with 1,000-yard plus seasons. He was part of 5 PSAC West Championships.
He earlier was football coach at Reynolds High from 1980-81, and football/ junior high track coach at Grove City High from 1982-86. He served as a football coach at Grove City College and head football coach at Moniteau High.
