Bob Crow was one of the top high school and college all-around athletes ever at Grove City High School and Grove City College.
At Grove City High, he competed at various times in basketball, golf, track, tennis and cross country. He won the prestigious Jiggs Wolford Award at GCHS his senior year in 1979 in both basketball and cross country. He helped lead the team to the Mercer County championship in basketball and a District 10 runner-up finish in '79. For his career he scored 1,111 points. In track, he finished 3rd at state as part of the mile relay team.
Bob went on to a brilliant basketball career at Grove City College. He was a four-year starter and still ranks as the second-leading scorer of all-time. He was honored as Man of the Year in 1983. He was named Pittsburgh Press Co-Player of the Year in '83 and was selected as a member of the All-District Small College Team and received similar honors from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He ranked 7th in the nation.
He went on to play two summers with Athletes in Action, competing in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, West Germany, Hungary and Poland. He played professionally in the 1984-85 season in France. He averaged 32.5 points per game and was named Player of the Year. Bob served as volunteer basketball coach at Calvin College from 2004-08. He also served as a youth coach in basketball, baseball, softball and soccer many times since 1998.
He was inducted into the Grove City College Athletic Hall of Fame in February, 2008. He was inducted into the Grove City College Athletic Hall of Fame in February, 2008.
