Brian Holzshu was an outstanding high school and college wrestler, who went on to a stellar career in coaching.

At Reynolds High, he played football and wrestled from 1970-74. In football he was a three-year letter winner and captain his senior year, winning All-Conference honors at defensive back.

In wrestling he was a three-year letterman posting an overall record of 41-6-2. In 1974, Brian won section, district and regional championships before placing third at the PIAA state championships. He was named the Reynolds "Athlete of the Year" in 1974.

He went on to a tremendous career at Thiel College. He was a four-time NCAA national qualifier and captain of the team his senior year. He had an overall record of 67-16.

But perhaps his greatest sports achievement is his contributions to youngsters in the sport of wrestling. At Greenville, he served as head elementary coach for six years, nine years as head junior high coach, and seven years as assistant varsity coach.

For the last three years, in voting by District 10 coaches, he was named the District 10 Varsity Assistant Coach of The Year.

He was a superb baseball player as well in his younger days and was a member of the Shenango Valley 13-14 Little League All-Star Team.

A member of the Thiel College Blue-Gold Athletic Club, Brian was inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
