Chris Anglin was one of the top basketball players ever to grace the floor at Sharpsville Area High School.
A three-year letterman in basketball from 1974-77, he helped lead the Blue Devils to the District 10 championship his sophomore and junior years. As a sophomore he scored 369 points, a 12.7 points per game average, including a high single game of 39 points as the team posted a 22-7 overall record.As a junior, Chris pumped in 398 points and had a 90.1 percent average at the foul line. He averaged 16.6 points per game and 9 rebounds as the team went 22-4. He led the team in scoring a second straight year as a senior, although he played in only 18 games that year. He tallied 339 points, 18.8 ppg, and averaged 10 rebounds per game. He set a Sharpsville single-game record with 45 points.
He was honorable mention All-Mercer County his sophomore year and First Team Mercer County the next two seasons, including league MVP his senior year. He won all-tournament honors at several events in his high school career and was honorable mention all-tournament at the prestigious Hoyle Tournament of Champions that featured some of the country's top players.
He also lettered in baseball for the Blue Devils. Prior to that he was a two-time Little League All-Star and was twice on Senior Division Championship teams with Fabulous Goldsteins. He went on to play basketball two years at Clarion University and was part of the 1979 Pennsylvania Athletic Western Conference Championship club.
He played in the F.H. Buhl Club Adult League with a 4-time league championship team. He also played in the open division of the Croation Fraternal Union Tournament, finishing 2-time runner-up with the Farrell Lodge.He had an outstanding coaching career: 2 years with Sharon junior varsity; 5 years Sharon 9th grade; and 7 years as Sharpsville High varsity. At Sharpsville his teams qualified for the playoffs 3 times and finished District 10 runner-up one season.
