Dennis "Denny" Driscoll had an outstanding athletic career as both a player and a coach.

He played football and basketball at Greenville St. Michael's High School where he graduated as valedictorian in 1956.

He helped lead the basketball team to the Pennsylvania Catholic Interscholastic Athletic Association western finals and was named All-Diocesan in football in 1955 and '56. He set a points-after-touchdown kicking record.

He went on to play freshman football at John Carroll University, later graduating from Youngstown State.

He had a long, illustrious coaching career, highlighted by producing two PCIAA Class C state championship basketball teams at St. Michaels in 1963 and '64. He was named PCIAA "Coach of the Year" in 1963. One of his highlights as football coach was coaching Reynolds to its first-ever victory over rival Greenville.

Denny also coached at Joseph Badger, Reynolds and Hickory high schools in sports that included football, basketball and track. He also coached Little League baseball and girls softball.

He was an outstanding fast-pitch softball player and a member of the Class A state championship team, Niagra, in 1962, while serving as co-manager.

He played independent basketball in the Mercer County League. He was honored when March 17, 1965 was named "Dennis Driscoll Day" in the Borough of Greenville.
