Don Fee may not have been a native of Mercer County, but he established himself as a Hall of Famer through a phenomenal coaching career at Grove City High School.
The skill and competitive spirit he showed at East Noble High School (Indiana), he brought to courtside at Grove City. He was hired as head coach of the Eagles after serving as assistant to legendary Bill Hager at Maplewood High School from 1982-90.
During his career at Grove City that spanned from 1990 to 2015, Don led the Eagles to an impressive record of 432-221. That 432 number ranks as 3rd best in Mercer County history, behind only fellow Mercer County Hall of Famers Ed McCluskey and Roger Flynn.
His teams won 11 league championships and two District 10 titles. His squads made four PIAA State Tournament appearances, including one Western Regional (state semifinal) game. Don coached seven 1,000-point scorers of the 12 in school history during his tenure. He was selected to coach in the Pittsburgh Roundball Classic in 1994.
Having played basketball at Taylor University, Clerendon Junior College and Edinboro University, his success helped get him inducted into the East Noble High School Hall of Fame.
After retiring from teaching at Grove City, he enjoyed volunteering to work in the Grove City elementary basketball program to help young players develop their skills.
Don played on the 1983 state champion slow-pitch softball team out of Meadville.
His son Jordan followed in his coaching career and had great success in NCAA Division II before becoming assistant coach at Division I Florida Atlantic University.
