Elvorne “Bucky” Ferguson is a 2012 posthumous inductee to the Mercer County Hall of Fame.

He was a phenomenal basketball player at Sharon High School and helped lead the Tigers to outstanding seasons.

As a sophomore on the 1957-58 squad, he scored 70 points in a part-time role on a team that won the Section 3 title and reached the semifinals of the WPIAL Tournament before bowing to Washington.

His junior year, the team posted a 17-5 record as Ferguson was the leading scorer with 300 points, including 149 in league competition. He was named MVP of the New Castle Jaycees Tournament.

His senior year, Bucky led the team with 276 points and an outstanding 14-6 mark although the squad had only two seniors.

He went on to star for many years in independent basketball for teams from the Elks Club and F.H. Buhl Club as well as the New Castle Jaycees.
