Gina (Scarsella) Trombley was a tremendous all-around athlete at Mercer High School, starting a career that led to theU.S. Military Academy.

She was a 4-year letter winner in basketball and volleyball from 1985-89 and a 3-year letter winner in track & field.

In basketball, she was second-team All-County in 1986-87, then first-team in 87-89. She was All-County MVP as a senior.

In volleyball, she was a first-team All-County selection her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She led the Lady M’s to their only MCAC volleyball title in 1988.

In track, she earned 3 varsity letters and qualified for the District 10 Championships three seasons, while being a state qualifier in the 100-meter hurdles in 1988.

Gina earned a nomination to West Point where she shined on the basketball court from 1989-93.

She was a 4-year letter winner, team captain and first-team All-Conference. In 1993, she was honored as NCAA Woman of the Year at West Point and received the Army Athletic Association Award that year.

She was All-Army and All-Armed Forces in volleyball in 1996.   She served as a youth volleyball coach from 2014-19.   Gina was inducted into the Mercer High School Hall of Fame.
