James "Jim" Leetch was a phenomenal multi-sport athlete at Sharpsville Area High School who shined in football at Grove City College.

At Sharpsville he played varsity football from 1976-78. He was honored several times on the All-Northwest Conference and All-Mercer County teams all three years. Northwest Conference honors included 1st-Team Defense twice, 2nd team once; 1st-Team Offense twice. For the Mercer County All-Stars, he was 1st-Team Offense twice, 2nd team once; 2nd-Team Defense 3 times; 2nd-Team Punter once. In 1978, he helped the Blue Devils win the Mercer County Championship. In basketball, he scored a career 1,093 points in three years on varsity. He was named to the Mercer County All-Star 1st Team twice. In 1979, the team captain averaged 17.1 points and 10 rebounds per game.He pulled down more than 200 rebounds in his junior and senior years.

Leetch went on to play football at Grove City College and was a 3-year starter and letterman at defensive end. In 1981, he was named the college's Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year. His senior year he was team co-captain.

He played for more than 10 years in the Buhl Club Independent Basketball League and played racquetball for more than a decade. He also competed in 5Ks, 10Ks and half-marathons.

He served for several years in Hermitage Little League as farm team manager, assistant manager and volunteer coach.
