The Mercer County's posthumous honoree is A.J. Janosko, arguably the greatest boys volleyball player in Farrell High history.

A 1986 graduate of Farrell High, he was a 4-year letterman in volleyball. He was an All-American setter for the 1986 team that reached the PIAA State Championship finals. His senior year he was selected as Volleyball Monthly as one of their "Fabulous 50" as one of the top players in the nation.

He was awarded a volleyball scholarship to attend George Mason University where he had a phenomenal career.A.J. still holds the GMU all-time record for 1,951 assists, or 8.99 per game. In his junior year, he helped lead the team to the NCAA Final Four.

After graduation, he was active in the Falls Church (Va.) Little League.

He died tragically from injuries in a fall while vacationing with his family on June 23, 2014, but as an organ donor he helped others live on. Because of his organ donation, he was honored when his face was on the race car of driver Joey Gase in a NASCAR XFINITY Series race in Richmond, Va. this past September.
