Jerry Pacifico was a hard-nosed linebacker who graced the gridiron at Reynolds High School and Youngstown State University.

At Reynolds from 1982-85 he excelled in football, wrestling and track. But it was in football where he truly made his mark.

Playing for Mercer County Hall of Fame Coach Frank Amato, he helped lead the team to the District 10 Division II playoffs where they defeated Fairview, before bowing to Northwestern in the title game.He was named honorable mention All-State in 1983 and '84. He was named to the All-Keystone Football League 1st-Team Defense and was selected as the KFL Most Valuable Player.

He received a scholarship at Youngstown State University where he was a fixture on defense for the Penguins from 1985-89 as a 4-year starter. The fourth-leading tackler in school history, he received numerous honors, including: Honorable Mention All-Ohio Valley Conference Linebacker, Defensive Player of the Game and Special Teams Player of the Game.After college, he continued his football career as a member of the Shenango Valley Blasters semi-pro team and also played for Team USA in England. He was honored as first team linebacker semi-pro.

A member of the West Penn Coaches Association, he spent 23 years coaching football at Reynolds, Hickory and West Middlesex High Schools, serving as head coach at Reynolds. He also worked as an assistant coach at Thiel College.
