James "Jim" Morrison was a three-sport start at Grove City High School in the 1950s.

In football, from 1954-57 he played on the varsity squad and scored a total of 24 touchdowns. He was named to the 1956-57 Brookfield All-Opponent Team and played for Mercer County in the 1957 All-Star Game against Trumbull County, scoring a touchdown in the team's 21-0 victory.

n basketball, he scored a total of 989 points (276 as a sophomore, 345 as a junior and 368 as a senior). He once scored 31 points in a thrilling 56-53 victory over Mercer, outdueling Mercer star Jim Anthony who scored 30. In that game, the Eagle ace went 9-for-9 at the foul line. His senior year, he led the Eagles to the Mercer County co-championship.

Perhaps his best sport was track and field. The speedster was undefeated during the regular season in the 100- and 220-yard dasheth his junior and senior year, winning the Dual Track Meet, the New Castle Invitational and District championships in 1957. He finished second in the state in both events with his best times of 9.9 in the 100 and 22.0 in the 220.

Jim was a member of the Basketball Congress team that won the independent state title in 1958 as he scored 231 points that season. He was also a member of the Goshawk basketball team in Pensacola, Fla., while in the Navy.
