Jarrett Samuels was an outstanding football player for Farrell High School who returned as coach to lead his alma mater to a state championship.   He played for Mercer County Hall of Fame Coach Lou Falconi at Farrell from 1986-89 and went on to play four seasons at Westminster College.

Jarrett returned to Farrell as head coach for four seasons 2007-10 and led the Steelers to the District 10 semifinal. The next three seasons his squads won 3 straight Region and District titles and appeared in the PIAA Western Finals every year. That senior class produced the most wins ever (48) and 9 players won All-State honors.

He returned to the Steelers’ sideline after the 2011 season and in week 2 of the 2012 campaign he earned his 50th victory. The team reached the D-10 semis again.

From 2015-18 the Steelers won 4 straight D-10 crowns and the four-year players won a record 50 games. The team went to 4 consecutive Western Finals, finishing as PIAA state runner-up in 2015 and winning the state title in 2018, the first Mercer County team ever to win state with an undefeated season (15-0).

Jarrett became the 12th MercerCounty coach to win 100 games. He finished his scholastic coaching career witha 116-32 mark, 9th best overall in the county. He recorded 6 Regionchampionships, 7 District 10 titles and was honored as 2018 State Class A Coachof the Year. He coached 18 All-State players, including 2018 Class A State Player of the Year Kyi Wright.

Other honors included: 4-time My Valley Sports Big 22 Coach of the Year; 3-time Pa. State Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year; 2-time West Penn Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year; WYTV-33 Hometown Hero-Man of Farrell Community 2018; W.Pa. Football.net and Pa. Football News.com Coach of the Year;    Best of Varsity Cup 2019 Coach of Year; D-10 Distinguished Service Award.

He served as associate head coach at Thiel College in 2019 and linebacker coach at Westminster College in 2021, the PAC champions.
