John Staul, one of the Hall’s 2011 posthumous inductees, was a standout football player at Farrell High and active in area sports programs for many years.

He was a graduate of Farrell High in 1930 where he starred on the football team for three years. He was voted to numerous Mercer County all-star teams for his play at guard and tackle.

He turned down college scholarship offers because of financial responsibilities at home.

In the mid-1930’s, John went to C.C. Camp and was involved in many athletic activities there. Highlight was when he competed against a group of college football all-stars.

Ordained a minister, he served the community by coaching Little League in Farrell for more than 20 years. He coached all-star teams and also coached his squads to some league championships.

In 1962, his team won the Mercer County championship.

He was very active in sports programs at the F.H. Buhl Club, Sharon, and was a member there for more than 55 years.
