Len Krichko excelled in high school, college and post-collegiate competition in middle and long-distance running.

During his high school career at Hickory High School, 1972-75, he competed in three PIAA Class "A" State Championships for cross-country and track. He was a two-time District 10 Champion for the 880 and mile runs and was a four-time Mercer County cross-country champion (team and individual).

In the 1975 State Track Championship he competed in three events, the 880-yard run and mile finishing 7th In both and also ran on the Hornets 2-mile relay team. Nationally, in 1972, Len was a member of the Hornets 24-Hour Relay Team which was ranked 6th all-time for high school teams. He finished his high school career by winning seven varsity letters and setting six school records (1,000 yard run, two mile relay, one mile relay and three cross-country course records).

During his collegiate career, 1976-1980, he was part of seven National Collegiate Championships at the NJCAA, NCAA I-A and NCAA II levels for Indoor and outdoor track, cross-country and the marathon. He was a four-time NJCAA National Champion, national record-holder and was First Team All-American setting a total of 12 school records at the Community College of Allegheny County, Clemson University and Slippery Rock University.

Post-collegiate, he competed nationally for the Puma USA Team from 1981-1984 and competed in four National Championships for the 10k, 15k, 10 Mile and 25 k distances.

During his career at Allegheny he became a NJCAA four-time National Champion, national record holder and All-American setting American records in the distance medley relay for Indoor and outdoor trackf and In the four-mile relay.

He also had the fastest 1,000-yard run by an American for the NJCAA in 1977 and was on the winning national championship two-mile relay team and 6,000-meter relay team at the Penn Relays. He went on to set records and add championships at Clemson and Slippery Rock University.

He later coached cross country and track at the University of South Carolina and later for New England prep schools.

Len has been the president and chief executive 0fficer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan since 1997.

In 2005, he was selected as the Executive of the Year for the Midwest Region by the Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals and in 2001 he was recognized as a Distinguished Professional by Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Academy of Professionals, its highest honor.

During his Boys & Girls Clubs professional career, Len has been very fortunate to have been involved with Major League Baseball's World Series 2006 (Detroit), the National Football League's Super Bowl XL 2006 (Detroit) and the Major League Baseball's All-Star Games in 2005 (Detroit) and 1997 (Cleveland), as well as the Boston Marathon, Cleveland Revco-Marathon and the Professional Golf Association's Ben Hogan and Nike Junior Golf Tour.
