Mike Lewis was one of the top wrestlers ever produced in Mercer County, who posted a brilliant career at Lakeview High and Thiel College.

At Lakeview he was a 4-year letter winner from 1986-89. He was a section champ in 1988, 3-time District 10 qualifier, 2-time regional qualifier. His senior year he was team captain and won the Outstanding Wrestler Award. His career record was 85-32.

At Thiel, he was a 4-year starter from 1990-93. He was a 3-time NCAA Div. III national qualifier and 3-time NCAA regional champion. He won 4 Presidents' Athletic Conference crowns, won a PAC All-Conference Award and was named 1993 PAC Wrestler of the Year.

A team captain in 1992- 93, he was an Academic All-American in 1993. His career record was 149- 24-2 and is a Thiel program record for most wins in history and also for consecutive wins (44). During his time at Thiel, he competed in 28 tournaments, had 22 finals appearances and 19 first-places. He received 4 Most Valuable Wrestler honors in tourneys his senior season.

He went on to coach wrestling at Winfield High School from 1994-2006 and produced two West Virginia state champs and numerous state place-winners. When he started there they had no feeder program in middle school or junior levels and there were only 9 wrestlers on the team. They practiced on an old gymnastics mat. Holding fundraisers and clinics, they were able to purchase a good mat and in 1996 placed 8th in the state as a team and 7th in 1997. He was inducted into the Thiel College Hall of Fame in 2004.
