Rande Stottlemyer
Rande Stottlemyer was one of the greatest wrestlers developed in Mercer County, who became one of the top collegiate coaches in the country at the University of Pittsburgh.
At Hickory, he never lost a dual meet in four years and was the only three-time District 10 champion in school history. In his senior year, he lost in the state finals.
During his high school years, he was a two-time National Junior Freestyle Champion and featured in an article in Wrestling USA Magazine. He won numerous independent tournaments as well.
He attended the University of Pittsburgh to wrestle and finished his career as a three-time All-American. At Pitt he posted a record of 68-16-2, won an Eastern Wrestling League title, and was captain of the team for each of those seasons with the Panthers.
Rande became a coach at Pitt and is currently in his 32nd year as the most winning coach in school history. His team won a third straight Eastern Wrestling League Championship in 2012 and he was honored as EWL Coach of the Year for a fifth time.
He has coached two NCAA national champions and numerous All-Americans. His wrestlers have won many academic awards.
He formerly served as president of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame by the Pennsylvania Chapter as he earned the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
This past year he was voted as one of the "Top 10 Sports Icons in Pitt History" along with the likes of Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino and Roger Kingdom.
