Steve Klaric was an outstanding quarterback and Sharon High School who excelled in American Legion baseball.
In football for the Tigers in 1933-34, he was All-County and All-District as a quarterback. He was an outstanding punter and kicker and booted more extra points than anyone in the county in his senior year.
Defensively, he had several interceptions, including three in one game against Youngstown Rayen.
As a senior he led Sharon to a 7-2-1 mark, the only losses coming to New Castle and Youngstown Rayen, while wins came over Newton Falls, Greenville, Oil City, Grove City, Sharpsville, Farrell and Meadville. The Tigers tied Warren (Ohio).
Sharon won the District 10 championship with a thrilling 8-0 victory over rival Farrell. Klaric connected with Andy Seaman for a TD pass with less about two minutes remaining in the contest that iced the game after an earlier safety gave the Tigers the lead.
Steve was a stellar baseball player as a catcher with the American Legion team. He went on to play independent baseball and was a standout golfer as well.
