Willam "Bill" Capitol was a football and basketball star during the heyday of Farrell High sports in the 1960s.

His ability was so great that former Farrell High, Duke University and NBA star Jack Marin said that "Bill was the most graceful athlete I ever played with."

A member of the Farrell basketball team from 1956-59, he helped lead Farrell to the 1959 state championship and was named honorable

mention all-state that season. That year the Steelers finished 27-3, and the ace guard contributed 215 points to the effort and was a ball-hawk on defense.

He was also an outstanding football player on the strong Night Riders teams on the late 1950s.

He went on to play football and Virginia State University in 1959 and 1960. Bill played independent basketball for the Farrell City of Elks team in 1961-62. He played football and basketball in the military from 1962-65, interrupted by a tour of Vietnam.

He served as Farrell 7th-8th grade basketball coach from 1990-91 and coached the Sharon Midget Football team from 1986-89.
